I went to see a burlesque show at Madame JoJo’s in Soho starring the folly mixtures. This was my first time at a cabaret show and the first time the group performed at Madame JoJo’s. It was a very interesting experience and something I wouldn’t have willingly attended if it weren’t not for a good priced voucher I stumbled upon on LivingSocial.
I invited a group of friends along to watch the show with me. They all enjoyed it but some were not able to see at the back as by the time I booked our tickets, the lady was unable to reserve 12 seats for us to sit together (it was a rather large group). However I was very lucky as a Thai lady had two people drop out her group and thus allowed me and another friend nab their seats on the corner sofa :D They then left at the interval which meant my friends could sit on the whole sofa! Yay!
So I was able to enjoy the show comfortably :) It was very tastefully done and as you would expect a strip tease to be. However, I don’t know why but, I was expecting some more umph when the ladies took their garments off. I guess the crowd were somewhat shy at the beginning and didn’t know they had to make noise, the MC had to prompt us all. The ladies did solo acts and group acts. The group act I found needed more synchronisation when dancing along to the music, as it was a small stage with props in the way it was hard to watch all the lovely ladies on stage. I could only see 1 or 2 of them. The solo acts were good, they each had their own theme. I especially enjoyed the ballerina performance because it was different and showed some skill and dance. Rather than a normal a strip tease.
All in all, it was a good show. The stage was small but they handled the crowd and stage well. The MC was particularly funny and the male strip tease was hilarious. I really enjoyed when he was being geeky and was webcamming to his ‘girlfriend’. They even asked two males from the audience to do some pin-up and campy moves. That was very entertaining and both men took their shirts off. Woo!
Afterwards I ended up in the Lab Bar with friends. There was a vast range of lovely, delectable drinks which managed to get 20% off from Drinks Deck. Awesome idea if you love drinking and bar crawling :) Or if you like to try drinking at new places.
