My friend wanted a relaxing day off to relieve himself from stress at work. He decided to organise a day out to Boxhill, Surrey, and have a small hike with a picnic.
As it was a Sunday, travelling from London to the countryside was slightly a pain since there were railworks going on; I also had made some bad decisions on which trains to catch which caused me to be late. Oh well, at least I got there in the end!
We drove to Boxhill from Purley station which took about 20 minutes. When we arrived we saw a lovely view of the town below.
We had croissants with ham and cheese, BLT baguette, sausage rolls, profiteroles, crisps, peanuts and iced tea. It was a lovely picnic and only cost us a fiver each!
The hike takes you around Boxhill park and towards the stepping stone trail. Lots of people took their children and dogs out on the warm summers day.
After our hour and a half hike down and up the hill we ended up buying some ice cream to satisfy our stomachs. Mmm.
I would really love to visit Boxhill again and possibly the lavender gardens that was close by too.
What have you done to have a relaxing day out?
