Happy New Year! A review of 2015

Happy New Year all you cuties! I hope you all had a wonderful time with friends and family!

For my Christmas break, I ended up spending time with family and friends. It was a lovely time off and great to catch up with everyone, but I felt that tired hosting so many parties! I think I’ll have to have a rest for a while before hosting another event…

So looking back at 2015, what were my highlights from each month?

New year, new beginnings, exciting times! I ate my way through the first month hehe. Visited a LEGO art exhibition and went to Winter Wonderland.

Spent Valentine’s dinner as a 3rd wheel but had the weekend with my other half :P Also attended a couple birthday parties :D My Chinese New Year was spent running around Chinatown looking for a place to eat and locating this man with golden balloons with Sue…

Attended the BSTF nationals with my TKD group (as a cheerleader) and my friend’s brother’s wedding. Also held a bake sale competition at work – I won best presentation :D

Attended Hyper Japan at Earl’s Court. Sadly this place is to be demolished and turned into a hotel :(

Went to the May MCM Expo.

I participated in the annual Kaichi event where Kaichi High School from Japan comes to London to practice their English and learn about the culture. It’s such a great experience where you get to meet new people and learn about the Japanese culture too. I attended my first free gaming event and got some freebies. Also managed to get my red belt in TKD! Nathan invited us to play crazy golf for his birthday and Manni had a meat-filled birthday at Bodeans :D

Visited friends in Ireland! We’ve never met but it was such a warm welcome and the distance didn’t make anything awkward at all! Friends will always be friends <3

Moved away from London and into my new flat! Had a lovely evening out bowling with colleagues for our team event. Also helped create a teaser video for our TKD group.

Visited Japan! YAY! Was so happy, really want to go back and visit again.

I attended MCM Expo in London for Kekiko and spent Halloween in Amsterdam.

My birthday month! Basically had a lovely meal with friends in Soho. I also decided it was time to stop TKD as I was living too far out from London to justify travel costs and travel times.

Spent Christmas chilling with family, playing mahjong and filling my belly with lots of yummy food. Also made my first ever gingerbread house with my little cousin! We had so much fun and I didn’t realise that the packet didn’t come with sweets to decorate (fail!) and thus we rummaged through the cupboards for sprinkles and sweets. My friends also came round for Christmas and New Years for some karaoke and video games. My team in the office also converted our area into Narnia! Crazy but it was such an amazing environment to work in and felt like we were working outdoors! I also had to help plan and organise the company Christmas party and ended up throwing a Great Gatsby themed prohibition event. We kitted out the bar venue with DIY props, a personalised video and personalised posters so everyone was involved.

Wishing you all a prosperous 2016 and a very happy, fun-filled year!

Best wishes,

Kekidoll xoxo

Hello 2015

Hi guys, it’s been a while. Sorry that I’ve been on hiatus for a long time. I just didn’t find the time to post about my adventures and many more things happened near the end of 2014.

I hoped everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Joyful New Year!

Love Kekidoll

I received a lovely card from Joy all the way from America ^^ Was such a nice surprise to come home to. I shall make some space to hang those butterflies in my room!

My Christmas was spent with the whole family eating and playing Mahjong, whilst the kids gamed Smash Bros. Apprantly they were really into it and 8 man Smash Bros can be deadly…

Posing the infamous "BubzHubz" face...
Zomg banquet much?

I also celebrated with my TKD team with bundles of food…

Please miss, may I have some more?

The meat came out so late that most of us were full from sides and Mac & cheese. There was just so much prepared. Thank you for organising Minh & Linh!

So so much. We had to take doggy bags!

New years was a little boring and was mostly at home. Watched the countdown and fireworks on TV with my cousin.

It farted sparkles and pretty lights

It was a nice end to the year and I hope 2015 will bring me more luck, hope and joy to the future. Let’s leave the past behind us and move positively forward!

I didn’t really make any resolutions but will strive to,
– post often
– work  hard
– draw more
– finish what I started off

How was your new year? Please share in the comments!

With love,
Kekidoll xoxo

Christmas Cheer

Christmas was filled with lots of delicious food with the family. We had a massive feast with roasted pork, bbq ribs, deep fried wontons, steak, chicken, duck and vegetables. Om nom nom!

Yummy Feast

All the family came down and we all filled our stomachs with meat and dessert. I had fun decorating the cheesecake with little Santas and ice cream.
Cute little strawberry santas

We all exchanged presents after dinner. Some of my little cousins got spoilt with presents!
The little one couldn't hold all her presents!!

I also did a lot of shopping in the Christmas sales and bought so many new jumpers plus a new Fiorelli bag! It’s so pretty ^^
My new Fiorelli bag!

I also got to meet up with my friend, Eva, who moved down to Australia! Its been so long. She’s very well and has found a flat to rent! From the photos she showed me it looked really spacious and had an amazing view. It comes with two beds and two bathrooms (err why?! Lol guess no need to have a bathroom schedule xD). Now I need to save up for that holiday!! Eva also gave me really sweet handmade bracelets and a kawaii keyring! Love them ^^
I was very blessed this Christmas and had a lot of fun on my time off ^^ How was your Christmas?

A happy new year to you all!

With Love,

Confessions of a Blogger

It’s Christmas tomorrow! *cue excitement and cheer* I had a post all written up but somehow my WordPress app decided to give it an error and lose it during a refresh =.= *annoyed look*

Anyway, seeing as it’s the festive season I will not allow this to bring my joy down. Even though I’ve given up on re-writing the post about what my plans are for Christmas (I guess I’ll just show you lot at a later date instead) or a tutorial on my Christmas nails (see my instagram pic), I haven’t throw the Christmas Eve post away. Instead I’ve noticed many bloggers have been tagged to write this ‘Confessions of a Blogger’ post so I thought I’d answer the questions myself!

When did you first start blogging and why?
I started blogging around 2000/2001 since I started a written diary, but never kept it up to date with my life events. I wanted somewhere accessible that I can easily show friends and family or someone to find when I’m gone or wanted to know more about me (slightly morbid but hey!).

Have you had any past online presence?
Yes, prior to Kekidoll.com I had kept numerous online blogs on various free domains. I was very active on Gaia, a forum with a large creative, anime and gaming community.

When did you become serious about your blog?
I had been blogging on and off and usually just reposted a lot of q&a posts before. It was only since 2011 when I decided to get my own domain that represented myself to blog on a constant basis about my life. I think I blog a lot more now that I’ve moved out to London.

What was your first blog post?
I actually don’t remember! It might have been a “hello world” post about my new blog :)

What have been your biggest challenges blogging?
Finding things to blog about and making it interesting.

What is the most rewarding thing about blogging?
Finding new blogs via comments and able to keep going for so long.

What is the most discouraging thing about blogging?
Not getting comments as often but numbers ain’t all that. Its the comments that having meaning that matter.

What is your lasting inspiration or motivation?
Blogging about interesting things I’ve done or eaten in London.

What is your blogging dirty little secret?
I don’t believe I have one.

What is your current goal as a blogger?
Blog regularly and to review a lot more items.

Have you learned or become passionate about anything through blogging that caught you by surprise?
That I like nail art and to try different designs. It can be a challenge to do!

I hope you enjoyed this. If you want to answer these questions then feel free. I tag you!

With love,
Kekidoll xoxo

My Office Christmas Party

We had our Staff Christmas Party on Friday after work. We went to Professor Truman’s Magical Laboratory in Brick Lane. It was really hyped up and everyone was expecting a spectacular show filled with magic, potions and dramatic lights. However we were disappointed with “lab rats” (people dressed in lab coats) playing poi and the a “robot” built by the mad professor just jiggying his bum. Errr I think you will find that I know friends who can play poi better and even with fire (yes health and safety I know), but if I had a robot on stage I would expect it to breakdance and not just bop to the beat then release some steam towards the ceiling from it’s guns. My table wasn’t very happy about the show provided – short and not exciting.

The food was edible but not great at all. On paper it sounded lovely…

  • Starter: Oven roasted cranberry chutney and brie tart (v)
  • Main: Oven roasted succulent breast of chicken, cooked in an infusion of fresh thyme, rosemary and farmhouse butter, served with creamy garlic and parmesan mash potatoes and freshly roasted honey glazed winter vegetables
  • Dessert: Chocolate caramel truffle laced with a raspberry and chilli coulis

However what we got was a cold cheese tart (the sauce was nice though), chicken on a bed of mashed potato with vegetables (tasted fake, cheap and vegetables were bitter) and lastly a chocolate vanilla pudding with wild berry compote (there wasn’t enough chocolate flavour and the berry sauce was too bitter/tangy, thus not a great pairing). Even the vegetarian meal took 20 minutes to serve, after bringing it to their attention our party needed 7 veggie meals; apparently we didn’t notify in advance and they didn’t have enough food. I was told the vegetarian meal was cold and tasteless, so instead of giving bs about how they don’t have enough to serve, why couldn’t they at least heat up the food?! Sorry for sounding all ‘Come Dine with Me’ style whining but we paid £80 per person for this event and the Fun Committee had to organise it 6 months before. So everyone’s expectations were high and wanted it to trump our last Christmas party.

The entertainment provided wasn’t so bad. There was a photo booth, casino tables, arcade games and a batak board. I always like photobooths. They are always so much fun ^^

The disco was boring. They hadn’t even kitted out the room; just filled it with smoke. Surly they could have hung some Christmas decorations up and placed a cool dance floor. The music at the beginning was too old school for me to know what the song was. It wasn’t until I had to leave (last train home) that the Christmassy ones came on =.= Oh well.

Despite all that I still had a good time with my work friends and got quite tipsy drunk lol. Couldn’t really walk in my heels, thank goodness that I brought my flats along!

How were all your Christmas parties? If you haven’t had your yet, are you looking forward to it?

On another note, I launched my online shop! I am also holding a big giveaway where you can win a large Molang Bunny (pictured). See details to enter here: Kekiko’s Grand Opening Christmas Giveaway

Professor Truman's Magical Laboratory
Professor Truman’s Magical Laboratory Show

Tomorrow is our staff Christmas party and we will be celebrating it in Brick Lane. The email about the venue sounds very cool. They are turning the Old Truman Brewery into a magical laboratory where performers, special concoction and fun galore will all come together. I can’t wait! I’ll be wearing the same dress I wore for my birthday because I want to get the most wear out of it! Hehe.

We will also be hosting our little secret Santa exchange tomorrow as well.

Have you all completed your Christmas shopping yet? I certainly haven’t! For my close friends from school I bought mango vodka and baked a cupcake for them each.  They went down well ^.^ I’ve already bought a gift for one of my housemates and part of one for the other. As for my family I don’t know where to begin!! I’ve told them that we’ll shop in the Christmas sales for their presents. I’m finding it harder to find presents this year for some reason…

I started a little Christmas wish list which I spotted a lot of bloggers have been doing so I thought I’d jump on the band wagon! What do you think? It’s a lot of things for my nonexistent home. (Maybe I should put a house on my wish list…)

Christmas Cheer of 2012

This Christmas was spent with family and friends, laughter and cheer followed by hitting the Christmas sales on Boxing Day. I had spent a-lot! Too much in fact since I manage to go over my spending limit on my credit card *cries*… I had just paid it off and shocked the lady as it was a rather large amount (I’d rather not say how much though); I didn’t want to incur any more interest or fees so I’d rather pay off the whole balance whatever that amount is.

Anywhoo, enough about the downfall of Christmas, lets focus on the jolly part of the festivities! On Thursday 20th December I went out with a few friends to have a lovely lunch in Eat Tokyo, Chinatown before taking snaps at the local Purikura.

Afterwards we headed to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park to visit the Magical Ice Kingdom, a new attraction this year. It was amazing inside; there were a variety of ice sculptures and a miniature slide at the back of the room. Although it was small we managed to take many photos and appreciate the freezing environment.

Two days after, I revisited Winter Wonderland with a separate group of friends but unfortunately the Magical Ice Kingdom was fully booked :( So we ended up playing many fun fair games! Didn’t win anything though, boo~

For Christmas I had a lovely family dinner and watched some films including Frankenweenie. It reminded me of Godzilla meets Frankenstein XD

All in all, I had a lovely time off work to see friends and family. What did you guys do for the holidays?

Office Festivities!

My office Christmas party was held at Bloomsbury Big Top Cirque de Noel last Thursday. It was a lovely event and very grand where the men had to be dressed in black tie and the ladies in dresses and heels. This meant I had to purchase a new dress for the party as I didn’t have many evening dresses that were sparkly enough for our Christmas event. Many of the girls in our office had to search online and offline for new outfits but everyone managed to look amazing that evening. It’s really nice to see everyone all dressed up and not in work clothes.

All the boys looking smartly dressed

The venue was amazing where there were circus acts being performed during dinner. The food was delicious but was not filling.  I thought the dessert was too bland or my liking, it needed some more sweet taste to it. I’m a sucker for desserts and I would always have to have them when I eat dinner but I wasn’t satisfied with it at this venue.

We got to hold on to and pet a real Python!

Nevertheless I enjoyed my evening with the disco dancing and a free photo booth. There was always a big queue and because the snaps had 2 seconds between them each, the photos came out really funny because we were moving around a lot.

We also decorated the office in the morning and are holding a Secret Santa gift exchange this week – so much fun! Nancy and I bought the decorations, including the office Christmas tree, all the way from Asda! It was heavyyy~~ But I managed ^^
