Heroes of Storm UK Launch Party

Heroes of the Storm recently held a launch party at Old Billingsgate in London where many fans and gamers attended. I happened to be lucky enough to get a free ticket at the time.

For a free event it was rather nicely kitted out. There was a main stage where everything happened,  they gave out some freebies (including a champion and free skin), photo booths, computers to play the game (although you may as well played at home), free bar, a shop and a DJ stage where Madeon played.

We look so cool

Although I’ve only been introduced to the game recently, I wasn’t an avid fan but seeing them unveil their new champion on the night was something to experience. The cheers and noise from the crowd and amazing and actually being in the midst of people so passionate about the same thing was overwhelming. I loved that atmosphere and really enjoyed my time.

Madeon’s stage as the ending sequence was really well setup.  He had a DJ set,  really sweet screen setup and lots of bright and colourful lights. It really felt like a rave! However I don’t think we’re the right audience as most of the attendees would grab out their smart phone to record and Snapchat this moment.  Even I ended up Instagramming a snippet! You can also watch the full event on Youtube!

I would love to attend another event like this although I would have expected more attractions and things to do. I guess I was comparing it to the Final Fantasy Fan Festival from last year,  but that was a grand event that was paid for. So I think Blizzard did a good job.

Clearbooks Community Exhibition 2015 at Microsoft #CBCE2015

I attended the Clearbooks Community Exhibition 2015 last week with my friend Sue. This was an exhibition that aided small businesses with their daunting admin tasks by sharing the Clearbooks platform to them. There were also talks on how to market your business, make it grow and create awareness online via social media marketing.

Many small local businesses also exhibited to showcase their products and were able to mingle with other small businesses to potentially gain new customers. I managed to speak to a local printing company for t-shirt prints so be prepared for kawaii clothing coming soon possibly 2016!

The whole event was hosted and organised by Clearbooks in the Microsoft offices. Microsoft also kindly sponsored the lunch and refreshments throughout the day which was very nice and yummy.

Final Fantasy Fan Festival

It was the first time Final Fantasy Fan Festival came to London. This is a festival where they dressed up the venue to look like something you’d see in a town in-game. There were carnival games such as fishing, archery, battak boards and riding the Beamoth (bull ring). They also setup rooms with groups of computers to fight primals (big bosses) and if you defeat them you will win a prize.

Each festival gives you a chance to win a “I defeated _____” t-shirt from a tough primal. This time was Odin. He was really hard to fight since he would chuck spears half way through and then use his ultimate that would wipe the whole team. Without battle tactics and communication, I found the task really hard. Even harder when people don’t listen so I couldn’t do my job as a healer well; it costed me mana to prop up everyone’s life bar when it was also very limited. Anyway, despite all the sweat and tears and the horrible team members that we got partnered with (some guy kept raging throughout the game). We got the tee!! Some people already place it on eBay for £109! I thought I’d just keep it lol. Bask in the glory.

I really enjoyed my time there.  We got tattoos and our hair done, queued up for 3 hours for the shop but I managed to return with a very kawaii moogle plush!

Kupo !

Some items got sold out very early in the afternoon which pissed a few fans off.

In the evening there was an ending ceremony where the Primals, the band for FF, sung all the primal songs on stage. It felt like a concert but everyone was busy filming or sitting down from being tired to be moshing or dancing lol.

Although the tickets were really expensive, I think it was worth it and really well organised (‘cept the shop). I’d love to go again!!

Japan Matsuri 2014

During the weekend I went to Japan Matsuri being held in Trafalgar Square for one day only. I had totally forgotten about this event until my friend mentioned it the evening before, so I decided to go very last minute. I managed to drag a friend along who met me there but soon found out that some other friends went too via Facebook (why you no invite me?! Hmph!)

Please welcome Captain Sean! XD

The event space was large as they used up the whole of Trafalgar Square. There errent many shops to buy much from though as they were all really small and 80% of the stalls sold food. However, the queues were massive and the portion sizes were too small for my liking so Sean and I decided to eat at BiBimBap in SoHo instead.

My panda bowls and free miso soup!

There weren’t a lot of freebies to collect so I ended up buying these cute little panda bowls from the tableware stall that I’ve been eyeing up ever since I saw their store in Hyper Japan. I also drank a lot of Yakult in one day…

We got to meet Domo-Kun!

Did you go to the event too?
